Inca Trail and Machu Picchu Circuit 3 – New Regulations

If you’re considering embarking on the fascinating journey of the Classic Inca Trail to Machu Picchu in Peru, it is essential to stay informed about recent changes in government regulations. These updates have a significant impact on visitors’ experiences at this iconic archaeological site, especially regarding the Inca Trail and the guided tour at Machu Picchu. Below, we will provide you with detailed information about these adjustments and offer valuable tips to make the most of your visit.

The New Regulations:

It’s important to note that the campsites along the Inca Trail mentioned in our itineraries may vary at the beginning of your journey. This is because the availability of spaces in the campsites is subject to government authorities’ approval, which is granted two days before the tour begins. Therefore, we cannot guarantee that all our groups will camp at Wiñay Wayna on the third night of the hike. Alternatively, some groups may camp at Phuyupatamarca at that stage.

The Phuyupatamarca campsite is about a four-hour hike from Intipunku (Sun Gate). Despite these changes, we want to assure you that our clients will have enough time to reach Intipunku and enjoy the breathtaking sunrise.

The government of Peru has implemented new regulations that directly affect visitors’ experiences on the Inca Trail and at Machu Picchu. One of the most notable changes is that the guided tour at Machu Picchu, once you arrive at the Inca citadel, now follows circuit number 3.

What Does This Mean for You?

This update means that, as you begin your descent from the Sun Gate, you will have the opportunity to capture spectacular photographs along the way to the viewpoint. At this point, you will be given the chance to capture the iconic image of the entire citadel, undoubtedly the highlight of your visit.

Conclusion:

With these new regulations, the visitor experience on the Inca Trail and at Machu Picchu promises to be even more enriching and organized. By staying informed about these changes and following our advice, you can ensure that your visit to this ancient and fascinating site becomes an unforgettable experience. We hope you thoroughly enjoy your journey to Machu Picchu!
